JRP Edge Digital Diesel Boost Gauge Kit 0-30 PSI 52mm

With the huge success of the initial launch of the JRP Edge range of gauges mid 2021, we didn’t waste any time starting the development of more models to add to the range. And with our ever growing commitment to our 4x4 customer base, we are proud to introduce the JRP Edge 52mm 0-30 PSI digital diesel boost gauge kit. These little units are designed specifically for turbo diesel vehicles, being that diesel motors don’t have vacuum, there is no need for their boost gauges to have vacuum as part of their display. So these little 52mm LCD diesel boost gauges have a readout range of 0 to 30 PSI and only display positive manifold pressures as part of the numeric and outer scale display. Something else we made changes on with this incarnation of the Edge range of gauges is the size of the graphics used to make up the gauges display, our other models in the range use finer blocks for the outer scale display, being that we no longer had to display vacuum as well as boost on the scale, we had a lot more room to work with. So our design team toyed with the idea of creating larger blocks on the outer display and the end result we think looks great. This makes the scale part of the gauge clearer to read than our non-diesel boost gauges, without them looking strange if you were to have them running next to our other Edge models which use the smaller graphics on the outer scale part of the gauge. When you have these diesel boost gauges running next to say our water temp, or EGT gauges for example, they still look very well matched, and if we do say so ourselves, the two different size scale readouts look pretty good when paired together.

Another improvement we made just for these 0-30 PSI dedicated turbo diesel boost gauges is, we have developed a 3-bar boost sensor specifically for these models and is included as part of this kit. Our multi gauge and boost & egt gauges are using our trusty 7-bar map sensor, and while these are still great sensors, there really wasn’t any need for a boost sensor to include with these kits that can read up to 99 PSI, and being we are sending the sensors readings over a 0-5v data line, if only using 30 PSI of the sensors capability we are really only using around 2v of that signal to send the data, this results in a lower signal resolution. So, the idea was to create a boost sensor to pair with these gauges where it was using the full 5v to report back to the gauge which improves stability and accuracy. Not that our 99 PSI sensors aren’t accurate or stable, they very much are, but we here at JRP like to improve on design wherever possible and this is just another way we could improve things to make what we would consider the best diesel boost gauge we could.

We here at JRP have really tried our best to offer a wide range of gauges that cater for our diesel customers, and we will continue to develop more gauge products that make sense for this ever growing customer base. Along with the launch of these 0-30 PSI boost gauges for diesel, we had added models to the line such as IAT to keep an eye on the intake air temperatures of turbo diesels, to a dedicated transmission temp gauge for those with automatic transmissions to keep an eye on while towing. We are doing our best each year to increase our range of diesel specific products and will continue to do so in the years to come.

HIGH QUALITY SENSORS

The JRP Edge 52mm 0-30 psi diesel boost gauge comes with our special little 3-bar boost sensor that we have had made specifically for these gauges. All of our other boost gauges come with our JRP 7-bar map sensor, not that there is anything wrong with those sensors and are terrific, especially for those that are running higher boost levels than 30-psi. But being that diesel guys are now such a massive part of our customer base, we love to work hard and improve on everything we can as we develop new products for this customer base. So, each of these diesel boost gauges come with our brand new 0-5v 3-wire 3-bar boost sensors. With these gauges having an operating range of just 0-30 psi, we have increased the resolution of these sensors over that 0-5v signal they output. Just like our 7-bar boost sensors, these are a filtered sensor, incredibly accurate, fast responding and reliable.

AMAZING LCD DISPLAYS

The crown jewel of the Edge 52mm range of gauges is their amazing VA type LCD panels that were developed just for these gauges. As soon as you see them light up you will know right away these are not your typical LCD gauge, they have an amazing clarity & brightness to them. As we mentioned in the description at the top of this page, these diesel specific boost gauges have a slightly different screen layout to other gauges in the range, being we had more space to work with because of not having to display vacuum as well as boost, we decided to increase the size of the graphics for the outer scale part of the display. This difference pairs extremely well with the other models in the range, while also making this gauge stand out along with having the outer scale part of the display easier to read.

The LCD panels used in the JRP Edge range of gauges took over a year in development process, they are a high end VA type panel which allows for superior viewing angles and brightness, the first thing you will notice about the JRP Edge gauges is how they can be viewed quite clearly on both on & off angle viewing, one of the shortfalls of LCD is as you view them off angle their brightness and clarity reduce, the JRP Edge have some of the best off angle viewing of any LCD gauge on the market today.

They have a brightness of 600nit which is also terrific, daytime viewing on some LCD gauges can be a little poor due to lack of brightness, this is not the case with the Edge range of gauges, and they are clear and easy to read in almost any condition. Also having such many selectable display colours means it will be much easier to match factory instrument clusters for those customers who want to maintain a consistent look in their cabin.

High End Build Quality

The Edge range of gauges have a robust design, the body of the gauges are a tough light weight alloy finished in a polished black look which gives them a nice contemporary look which will suit almost any application. These gauges also use a thick single piece scratch proof tempered glass panel in front of the LCD screen which slightly protrudes from the gauge itself for an awesome look that just screams quality. There is nothing worse than gauges that just look cheap, and the last thing the Edge range does is look cheap, they have a modern look which is also supported by quality housing and glass which just gives them that overall feel and look of quality.

SINGLE POWER INSTALL

All our Edge 52mm diesel boost gauges have the Power Link feature and cable included, this is a simple way to provide power to more than one gauge with just a single link cable running from the primary gauge to any additional gauges. This is to save having to run multiple power looms for each gauge you have installed and reduced the soldering / crimping of power looms down to just the primary gauge itself. For any additional gauges you want to install, it is just a case of running a power link cable from one gauge to the next. It is a simple concept, but makes installing 3 or 4 gauges a much quicker and neater process having the feature be on the gauges.

REMOTE CONTROL

While the gauges themselves have a single button on the gauge body itself which is used for making changes to the gauge’s settings, such as colour selection, warning values, viewing or clearing peak values, each Edge 52mm diesel boost gauge comes with an external cabled button controller which can be installed somewhere tucked away in the cabin for making changes to the gauges settings after installation without having to remove the gauge from its housing to make the changes. Just simply connect our little button controller to the gauge and install somewhere easy to access, be it hidden away, or you can install it into your dash for the race look. Updating the gauges warning settings, changing colours, viewing or resetting peak values will no longer be a hassle at all.

WARNINGS & PEAK VALUES

All the Edge range of 52mm gauges have the feature to set warnings on the gauges, it’s an important part of any decent gauge solution for users to be able to configure their own warning values, and the Edge 52mm digital diesel boost gauges have this covered. The gauges have a built in buzzer that will sound if your boost levels ever exceed that of what you have set for the warning to trigger, along with a nice little warning symbol will display on the gauges screen at the same time. So, if you ever get any large spikes in boost, which could indicate a problem with your turbo’s actuator for example, the gauge can quickly let you know. Another feature some customers may find useful is, the gauges are able to record peak boost levels, this will enable you to check what is the highest level of boost seen by the gauge during operation without having to worry about looking at the gauge all the time to catch it.
